The original is just awful- not only a terrible character design with unskilled execution, nasty chaotic palette choice, and cluttered and unnecessary details, but a conceptual failure as well. You can’t tell anything about the website from Trope-tan; she’s completely unlike a Wiki-tan (ie, Wikipe-tan and AE-tan) in that she’s not a personification of the spirit and purpose of the website, but a self-aggrandizing mash-up of completely arbitrary tropes. So in that way I guess it’s very loyal to the ethos of the website…

ANYWAY I found nothing worth keeping about the original design so I did a complete overhaul- meet Trope-tan Mark II!

She’s a reserved librarian type, but she explodes with enthusiasm when given the opportunity to talk about what her interests, which are a lot of things! She’s an encyclopedia of pop culture and spends most of her time categorizing and re-categorizing her vast library of tropes. She’s very organized and helpful, but tends to wear her heart on her sleeve and gets walked over a lot easily. She treats everyone warmly without much formality, which is comforting to some and insulting to others. Sometimes she gets very self-conscious.
